“In the four months since he took office as the Environmental Protection Agency’s administrator, Scott Pruitt has moved to undo, delay or otherwise block more than 30 environmental rules, a regulatory rollback larger in scope than any other over so short a time in the agency’s 47-year history, according to experts in environmental law. The US Navy will deploy its trained dolphins to search for the last of the endangered vaquita porpoise. Once found, the dolphins will herd the vaquita into a marine refuge. Less than 30 vaquita are estimated to be left in the wild. The project will begin in September. The Mexican government is looking into a permanent ban on the gillnets that accidentally catch the vaquita. ———————————————–
4. Trump Receives Icy Reception – Intends to Drill Oil in Arctic and Atlantic
Environmentalists have condemned Trump as a “threat to every ocean and coastline in the country” due to his willingness to open up the Arctic and Atlantic to oil drilling. A five-year plan put into place by the Obama administration will be rewritten by the Trump administration. A 45 day public comment period is now open here
