Dee Muntug’a led the Sea Save delegation at the CITES Standing Committee, marking a pivotal moment in marine conservation advocacy. The delegation drove discussions on enhanced compliance and protection for the oceanic whitetip shark, proposed the establishment of a marine turtle working group, and highlighted Mexico’s leadership in forming a trilateral task force with the U.S. and China to combat totoaba trafficking. Through strategic engagement, Sea Save ensured outcomes remained science-based, enforceable, and transformative—holding governments accountable, forging critical alliances with countries and NGOs, and helping translate policy commitments into real-world conservation action. The Sea Save team will continue its work at the upcoming CITES CoPs
