The Sea Save Foundation introduced me to the depths of the ocean, both in a literal and metaphorical sense. As a high school student, I had the opportunity to participate in two leadership expeditions. I went on these trips to learn to scuba dive and see some cool creatures but left with so much more. I developed a new perspective on the importance of our oceans, a commitment to philanthropy and most of all I left with a renewed confidence in my leadership abilities. My overall experience with Sea Save has truly shaped the confident, passionate, and ambitious person I am today. As a result of marine exposure, I entered my undergraduate education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an Environmental Engineering major. I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to tie my education and career together to make an impact on our oceans.
